Mike Alexander with the Atlanta Regional Commission talks about the changing workplace landscape.

In his role as research division chief with the ARC, Mike manages an 11-member staff, providing a broad and accurate base of demographic, economic, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) information to support the ARC’s long-range planning efforts. These efforts include regional transportation and development plans, as well as function plans, policies and implementation strategies.

His work includes developing and maintaining statistical profiles of the Atlanta region with detail for small sub-county areas; developing and applying mathematical models to develop long-range forecasts of growth for the region; developing and implementing products for popular dissemination of research results; providing data support to a variety of specialized studies within the ARC work program; providing technical planning assistance to other divisions within the ARC, staff of member governments and planning partners, and the general public in their use of statistical profiles; and selecting and applying appropriate research methods.
